During the redesign of the Edeka market Siekmann, the focus was on a modern and contemporary concept. A simple design with clear lines and the relation to a sustainable and regional assortment present the basic concept of the pilot store. Here, the food trade attaches great importance to a diverse range of fresh produce. In order to enable a greater choice in the field of fresh produce, the focus is on self-service. The variety of products and a simple and fast operation allow customers a pleasant shopping experience.
In order to create a modern and at the same time warm character within the market, great emphasis was placed on the selection of materials. A high proportion of wood in conjunction with concrete and Plexiglas elements in blue and yellow – the colors of the food retail Edeka, form the main element. The transparent Plexiglas elements provide visitors with insights into the different areas of the market. The individual freshness areas reflect the regionality of the products and represent a direct relation to the origin of the goods. On the basis of graphics and representations the visitor is suggested the relation to the butcher or cheese dairy of his product.
The customer’s run is highlighted in its color accentuation in darker gray as a floor element. The corresponding component is a similar shape in the ceiling. Here we work with wood and concrete as materials. By highlighting the customer flow in the ceiling and floor, the visitor is guided through the market.
