With the reopening of the Marktkauf in Oelde, Münsterland, the food trade is oriented towards a sustainable and regional concept. Emphasis is placed on regionally grown and produced fruit and vegetables, as well as on expanding the organic range. With an enlarged and modernized service department for meat and sausage, cheese and a new fish counter with fresh products every day, the market exceeds the previous range. The new muesli and salad bar, a “hot counter” and an expanded bakery shop round off the diverse offering. The latest technology is used with the use of sustainable LED lighting and energy-efficient cooling shelves with heat recovery.
The materiality of the market connects the outdoor area with the indoor area. The existing brick facade and the large window elements were also used to design the interior and at the same time create a modern and industrial character. A forest graphic located on the lower level directs the visitor to the shopping area. A wide, open space opens up to you. This is characterized by white steel framework in conjunction with a brick wall and generous mirror elements, which were modeled on the windows of the existing facade. To take up the theme of nature, there are lifelike artificial plants in the fruit and vegetable department. The individual departments are also designed with graphics that relate to the theme of nature. The customer is guided through the market using specially created graphics and headings.
A special feature of the market is the stationery department. The design here made reference to a paper factory. The main element is the rolls of paper drawn onto a simplified track.
The redesign of the market purchase is characterized by a modern and regional concept.
